      MRX Winter Match Racing Abandoned

Similar conditions to yesterday greeted the 9 teams this morning as they met at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron which was not good news for racing. A solid breeze of 20 - 25 knots with gusts up to 45 meant that there was no chance of completing a series today so the wise decision was to send everyone home.

An alternative date is being arranged in September to hold the series so until then attention now turns to the Buckland's Beach Match Race 3 next weekend, as a lot of the same teams will be competing there as well.

      Racing Cancelled for Saturday

Unfortunately the race committee hasn't seen enough improvement in the weather to send us out and have decided to cancel all racing for today. Lets hope the weather improves tomorrow and we might be able to get a reduced series under way.

MRX Winter Match Racing off to a slow start

The 2nd round of the MRX Winter Match Racing got off to a slow start this morning with a 3hr postponement due to inclement weather conditions. The forecasted South Westerly change had come through early this morning and was blowing 20 - 25 knots when the teams met at 9am this morning. So the wise decision was to postpone racing for 3 hrs to give the weather a chance to moderate.

The teams are hoping that when they meet again at 12 there might be a slight improvement in the weather and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron will be able to get some flights away this afternoon.
